Transfer applicants
UVic has plenty of comfortable places to study.
We accept a limited number of transfer applicants from other law schools each year. Transfer applicants will need to complete a minimum of two years of legal education here to obtain a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Victoria.
Admission deadlines
Applications for upper-level positions (Transfers, Visiting, NCA and JD/Common Law) are accepted until April 30 for both September and January entry.
Admission requirements
Applications must be accompanied by:
- your academic record from law school and all post-secondary studies; and
- your reasons and motivation for wanting to transfer here (written in the "Additional Information" section of the application form).
Applications will be considered if:
- you meet all of the eligibility requirements for admission to the first-year program of the Faculty of Law (including the LSAT); and
- the law courses you have completed are compatible with our curriculum.
Preference is given to academically outstanding students with the potential to make a unique contribution to UVic Law's academic program, or to students who have applied for admission on compassionate grounds.
Students who have previously undertaken legal education at a Canadian law school will be given preference over applicants whose previous legal training has been undertaken outside Canada.
