The Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria is renowned for teaching excellence. As individuals and corporately, faculty members place the highest value on excellent teaching. Our students also assume a real responsibility for their own education, taking advantage of many opportunities for individual and group-based academic study, and initiating courses, conferences and academic projects.
Visitors to the law school remark upon the excellent collegial relations among faculty, staff and students. There is a strong sense of civic attachment to a shared enterprise. Relations in and out of class are marked by mutual respect and a high level of enthusiasm. While the educational standards are rigorous, the Faculty's goal is for all students to do their best and to succeed. The Faculty encourages a co-operative rather than competitive approach to education.
