Getting involved

UVic Law's students greatly benefit from your involvement.

Making a difference

One of the most rewarding aspects of staying in touch with your alma mater is the chance to give back to UVic Law by assisting current students. You can share stories about your law school experiences or offer them helpful advice as they begin to explore their career options.

We are always pleased to see graduates return to the Fraser Building to offer expertise and guidance to those who are following in their footsteps. Over the past four decades, our alumni have established an impressive tradition of maintaining their connections to UVic Law.

You can assist current students in many different ways, and with as much or as little time commitment as your schedule allows. As a graduate, you know how important and helpful it can be for a student to attend a presentation by a legal professional or simply chat with a practising lawyer over lunch or a cup of coffee. By acting as a mentor or a sounding board, you can give back to your school in a way that is invaluable — and greatly appreciated by everyone at UVic Law.

You can also learn how your firm or organization can provide vital employment opportunities in the legal field. Your involvement helps current students and recent graduates make rewarding professional connections that will assist them greatly as they embark on their new careers.

The Faculty's Law Careers Office and Law Co-op program work closely with students and the legal community to create mutually beneficial opportunities for professional growth and hands-on learning. We encourage you to explore their websites and see for yourself how important these programs are to students.

In terms of your own graduating class, we would be pleased to help you get in touch with former classmates who wish to do the same. You can also volunteer to be a class representative or help organize alumni gatherings or other special events.
